Shelved is a personal shelf for tracking the shows, movies, and games you watch and play. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Account information. When you create an account, we store your chosen username, email address, and a hashed version of your password (PBKDF2 with SHA-512 and a unique salt per user — your actual password is never stored or readable). Your email address is used only for account recovery (password reset). We do not collect phone numbers or any other personal identifiers.
Shelf data. Everything you save to your shelf: titles, status (want to watch / watching / watched), season and episode progress, notes, who recommended something to you, who you're watching with, and whether you marked something as did not finish (DNF).
Friends and social. Who you follow and who follows you (by username only). Your recent shelf activity is visible to friends you've accepted as connections. You control your connections — you can remove any friend at any time.
Usage events. Basic in-app actions like navigation, search queries, and sort changes. These are used to improve the app and power personalized recommendations. They are tied to your account, not to any advertising identifier.
Shelved uses these external services to fetch show, movie, and game metadata. Your personal data is not sent to any of them.
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account removes your profile, shelf, and all associated data permanently. Usage events are retained for product analytics and may persist in aggregate form after account deletion.

If we make material changes we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
